Let your Light Shine

Our Vision

The Haven Primary School believes that physical education has a vital contribution to pupils' physical well-being. We value school sport just as much as our other core subjects. All children receive 2 hours plus of quality P.E. teaching each week to enable them to succeed and excel in competitive sport (inter-house and intra-house) as well as physical activities.

The Haven Primary School gives pupils a range of opportunities to develop their creative and expressive abilities by taking part physical activity. This includes specialist teaching staff and coaches who offer a range of sport and games activities as part of the school curriculum and every lunch time as an opportunity for all children to take part in physical activities. By offering opportunities to compete in sport and other activities and clubs, we endeavour to build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Pupils are encouraged to appreciate the importance of a healthy and fit body, and all will begin to understand factors which affect health and fitness. It is intended that all pupils will achieve highly in PE and all will enjoy success and be motivated to further develop their individual potential both in and beyond school.

It delights me to announce that The Haven Primary School has been awarded the Gold Standard Award in the school games 2018-19.  This includes 2 hours of quality P.E. lessons each week, a range of extra-curricular clubs, inter-house competitions and organised competitions outside of school taking place throughout the year.

The Sainsbury's School Games Mark is an awards scheme to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. As a school we have worked hard to achieve the best standards in sport and P.E. Thank you to all of the children, parents and families and staff for their continued commitment and enthusiasm for P.E. and Sport. It is all about providing our children the opportunities and positive experiences in physical education helping them to be fit and skilled for life. Our next step is to maintain the Gold standard by continuing to work hard and using our sporting talents at every opportunity to be the best we can be at the top level. The benefits of healthy, active children are endless. Work hard. Dream big. Keep on going. Well done everyone!
