Let your Light Shine

Our Curriculum for 'Life in all it's Fullness'

The Haven VA CE Methodist Primary School Vision

At The Haven VA CE Methodist Primary School God is in all we do. Central to our vision is the Christian belief that God created all, and every life is precious to Him. In our nurturing environment, children are encouraged to grow into aspirational learners who contribute to their local and global community.

Our Christian Values enable us to live

‘Life in all its fullness.’    (John 10:10)

Curriculum Rational

Jesus wants us to have a full life in mind, body, heart and spirit. Therefore, we believe the purpose of education is to nurture and enable every child to thrive and to be the person they are fully capable of being.  As they leave our school, our aim is that every child will be ready to take on the next steps in their journey to adulthood with a love of learning, positive attitudes and a rounded set of values and skills to guide them.

Today we live in a society where careers are rapidly changing and we need to provide knowledge and skills to equip children for the future, in which they are able to adapt to an ever-changing society.

The Haven Curriculum Principles (intent)

We have personalised our curriculum so that it is influenced by our Christian values, our specific location here on the South Coast and is designed to provide language-rich learning which challenges all.

How this looks at the Haven (Implementation)

We recognise that the curriculum encompasses everything children experience at school. Whilst our curriculum promotes high standards and accelerated academic progress, it is also about uncovering and nurturing the talents within each child, developing core values and virtues, growth mind-sets and essential skills for life.  We are proud to provide a breadth of high-quality learning across all areas of the curriculum so that children can experience progress and success in as many ways as possible.

Learning is closely linked to our emotions, we learn best when we feel safe and happy, so the curriculum is also about promoting happiness and fun!
